Although we use the label "association", the National Education Association and its state and local affiliates are actually "labor unions" for our public school educators and education support professionals.

The NEA and its affiliates all implement the model of representative democracy. Delegates are nominated and elected to represent their coworkers at their school sites as Association Representatives, in leadership at the local, state and national level, and as delegates to the State and National Representative Assemblies.

The Tennessee Education Association will hold its annual meeting, the TEA RA, on May 18 and 19, 2018, at the Embassy Suites in Murfreesboro, TN.

Upcoming issues of teach will carry the proposed agenda, budget, amendments to the TEA Constitution and Bylaws, amendments to TEA-FCPE Bylaws, and candidate information. Expect discussion of these important TEA issues at the UEA association meetings.

The National Education Association will hold its annual meeting, the NEA RA, from June 30 to July 5, 2018 in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

The United Education Association will be accepting nominations for delegates to both these Representative Assemblies soon. The number of delegates to each Annual Meeting is based upon the actual number of members of each local association.
